Chris Callahan is an Extension Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Vermont. His work focuses on the application of engineering and technology to the needs of small and medium-sized farms and food processors in the areas of protected culture production, postharvest handling and storage and sustainable energy. He is also the Director of the Northeast Center to Advance Food Safety, one of four FDA/USDA funded regional centers tasked with coordinating training, education and outreach related to the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and the FSMA Preventive Controls for Human Foods Rule among small and medium-sized producers and small processors.
