Alabama Extension, in partnership with the Deep South Food Alliance, Alabama A&M University, Fort Valley State University, and the National Farmers Union have constructed three Mobile Farm Innovation units that are equipped with an array of hands-on training aides to address growers' needs around implementing both conservation and food safety practices on specialty crop farms. Some of the training aides include: using Google Maps to make a farm map, using aseptic technique to take a water sample, using solar-powered electric fencing to rotationally graze on a diversified farm, and using vegetative buffers to protect water quality and reduce food safety risk from nearby animals. These factsheets and facilitator guides support the Farm Innovation activities. Please also find these additional resources on the Food Safety Clearinghouse. For more information about the Farm Innovation Project, please visit the Mobile Farm Innovation Project page on the Alabama Extension website.
