
This guide was developed as part of USDA NIFA FSOP #2019-04237 and includes information about preparing for food safety-related crisis situations and other concerns of small organizations who may not have resources to hire public relations firms but need support in developing their organization’s resilience to crises. It begins with an introduction and statement of assumptions about the user, fundamental truths about crisis situations, expert definitions of crisis, details about crisis planning and preparation, action steps to prepare for crises, information about how to select members of a crisis management team, steps to create a crisis communication plan, and resources to support further crisis communication and management efforts.
